ISC East – key trends and insights

Earlier in November we had the pleasure to exhibit at ISC East, one of the largest security trade events in the US. Our colleagues Mark Cornett, Joel Marks and Teodor Karlstedt were present at the event to offer product demonstrations, informative presentations, as well as engaging in valuable discussions. We have spoken to our team members to find out more about the event and the key trends emerging this year.

How would you sum up this year’s ISC East?

Teodor Karlstedt: This year’s ISC East was a valuable experience for us. Despite being smaller in size compared to ISC West, it felt more familiar and provided a conducive atmosphere for meaningful interactions. We observed a significant emphasis on innovation and a strong sense of community within the security industry.

Did you spot any key trends at the event? How does this compare to the technology and industry trends that Precise is seeing?

Joel Marks: Palm as a new biometric modality definitely seems to be what is right around the next corner. Precise is well-positioned to be an early player in this new market, which is brand new in USA but already being rapidly adopted.

Teodor Karlstedt: For me two notable trends stood out at ISC East: a widespread shift towards cloud-based solutions and a growing interest in palm recognition technology. These trends align seamlessly with Precise Biometrics’ focus. We are also witnessing an industry-wide drive towards biometrics and advanced security measures, which perfectly mirrors our commitment to cutting-edge solutions.

Mark Cornett: The event showcased how the interest in biometrics continues to grow. For me, AI-enabled cameras seemed to be the most prominent innovation across the show.

What sorts of challenges are organizations facing today that makes them interested in YOUNiQ Access and YOUNiQ Visit?

Teodor Karlstedt: Organizations today grapple with multifaceted challenges, including increasing security threats, compliance issues, and the need for seamless people flow management. YOUNiQ Access and YOUNiQ Visit play a big role in addressing these challenges by offering a seamless and secure solution to enhance control over the flow of people within a building.

By combining biometrics and innovative features like visitor management evacuation apps, YOUNiQ Access and YOUNiQ Visit not only elevate security standards but also contribute to efficient people management processes, aligning perfectly with the dynamic needs of modern businesses.

Joel Marks: End users require more security than ever before, while also requiring a seamless user experience. Granting access with face as a credential offers enhanced security (since traditional methods like cards and keys can be lost/stolen/forgotten) as well as a simple, contactless user experience. Remote selfie enrollment differentiates YOUNiQ Access from the on-premises terminal competitors, and again a preferable user experience. Finally, YOUNiQ Access’s stripped down hardware requirements (a simple IP Camera) makes installation easier for our system integrator partners, as well as keeps costs down for end users.

Mark Cornett: Enhancing security continues to be the driving factor for considering the use of biometrics in access control. User convenience and lower admin costs remain secondary benefits.

Future – are you planning to be at more shows, where can people come and meet you?

Joel Marks: I will be at ISC West in April. There may be other shows between then and now, but I have not identified them yet. Once I do, I will let you know!

Teodor Karlstedt: Absolutely, we are committed to staying engaged with the industry and our clients. We plan to participate in more shows in the future to showcase our latest innovations and solutions. If you’re interested in meeting us, you can find Precise Biometrics at upcoming events such as ISC providing an excellent opportunity to connect, discuss industry trends, and explore potential collaborations.
